The MG Icon clearly takes design cues from the MG legends of the past. Hints of the MGA and MGB GT. Williams-Kenny  Global Design Director said: “The MG brand has a unique set of values and heritage and allows us to offer individual design values to our products. The MG Icon represents our vision of a modern MG demonstrating MG’s capacity for progressive design with respect for its long heritage.

The MG Icon concept shows a new soulful British spirit. Power and proportions interpreted from MG’s iconic greats of the past.

The MGB GT inspired rear with structural lamps mounted on top of haunched wings are another highly distinctive feature of the design. The MG Icon has a four ‘shell’ seat layout. The rear seats can fold down completely into the floor, making the compact SUV versatile and functional.

The car is similar in length to the old MGB GT, matching the size of the Nissan Juke. No production details have been announced  the car is clearly being shown to gauge public reaction and a hint of what is instore.
