Hyundai i30 has been crowned ‘Car of Year’ by leading car review website CarBuyer. The  The New Generation, all-new model, designed, engineered and built in Europe, will continue Hyundai’s sales in one of the mostly hotly contested segments in the market by offering buyers a refined and stylish car that is also frugal, efficient and safe.

The CarBuyer Awards identify the leading cars in 18 different sectors of the market, which offer the best value for money and the best ownership package for buyers. The team of experts judge each car on the shortlist on criteria such as running costs, safety, mpg, performance and owner satisfaction. From this list CarBuyer then selects the overall Car of the Year champion – this year being the Hyundai i30.

Steve Fowler Editor-in-Chief, Auto Express and CarBuyer, said: “The new i30 is a brilliant, all-round family car – it really ticks all the boxes: it’s spacious, comfortable, is well priced and cheap to run. Oh, and it’s a bit of a looker, too! It’s further proof of Hyundai’s emergence as a major player in the UK car market and that’s down to its ability to know exactly what today’s car buyers want.”

Tony Whitehorn, President and CEO, Hyundai Motor UK, said: “Winning the CarBuyer ‘Car of the Year’ title is a huge honour for us and a fantastic endorsement from one of the most popular automotive consumer websites for the New Generation i30. It really reinforces the strength of our offering to our customers.

“We believe that the New Generation i30, on sale in the UK on March 12, offers the best overall package and value for money in its segment backed up with a stylish design plus improved levels of refinement and quality both inside and out. It will appeal to progressive and discerning buyers who want a car that looks great, performs well and is backed by one of the industry’s best warranties in the form of our Five Year Triple Care package.”

The New Generation Hyundai i30 boasts combined fuel economy of 76.3mpg – an increase of 21% over its predecessor – and emissions from just 97g/km thanks to Blue Drive technologies. Better fuel efficiency and lower emissions, along with lower insurance group ratings and servicing costs contributes to an overall lower cost of ownership when compared with the outgoing model.

In addition the i30 is backed by Hyundai’s 5 Year Triple Care warranty giving customers total peace-of-mind.
