In Rolls Royce, Short Cuts by Jonathan Humphrey

It’s always a better day when the finest car maker in the world releases a new model.

Ushering in a new age for the finest in open top motoring, the Rolls-Royce Dawn

Rolls-Royce presented the Rolls-Royce Dawn to journalists using a worldwide streaming launch. Still not quite the same as seeing the car up close and personal but it looks magnificent and even better a drop head.

Re-inventing the 2+2 concept Rolls-Royce have managed to create with the dawn a full-size convertible without the compromise of 2+2. The Dawn is a full four-seater luxury convertible.

The Dawn, it has been speculated is not a Wraith Drophead. This latest car has more than 80% of the body panels newly designed. The aim was to make the Rolls-Royce Dawn, roof down, the most beautiful drophead and being two cars in one, the most beautiful luxury car roof up.

“Our new Rolls-Royce Dawn promises a striking, seductive encounter like no other Rolls-Royce to date, and begins a new age of open-top, super-luxury motoring. Dawn is a beautiful new motor car that offers the most uncompromised open-top motoring experience in the world. It will be the most social of super-luxury drophead motor cars for those who wish to bathe in the sunlight of the world’s most exclusive social hotspots.”

“Quite simply, it is the sexiest Rolls-Royce ever built.”

Torsten Mueller-Oetvoes, Chief Executive Officer, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars said:

“Dawn is a Rolls-Royce that feels completely at home on the Route Napoleon. It is a contemporary homage to a life on the Côte d’Azur. The car is a contemporary take on the ‘Casino’ lifestyle. Perhaps seen as cavalier in character it is intended to attract people who relish both freedom and sophistication,”Giles Taylor, Director of Design, said:

The bespoke audio system has been meticulously crafted to ensure on the move, roof up or down the best acoustic performance. Featuring sixteen individually tuned speakers, matched with seven tweeters and two booted mounted bass, speakers. A full ‘larger than live’ sound has is created for all passengers.

To power, this new luxury performance the beloved Rolls-Royce twin-turbo 6.6-litre V12 powertrain has been used. This engine produces 563bhp @ 5,250rpm and a torque rating of 780Nm.

As you would expect Dawn’s driving experience is exceptional, power and acceleration is more than ample with a top speed of 155mph governed and 62mph arriving in just 4.9 seconds.

The world’s best car, Rolls-Royce Dawn is a technological tour de force. Inside the car, many of the controls are operated via the Spirit of Ecstasy Rotary Controller. An intuitive, one-touch solution that allows the driver, effortless use of navigation and media functions.Outside, adaptive LED lighting, glare-free full beam illumination and amongst many other things a satellite aided transmission that allows the car to select the most suitable gear for the terrain.

It is safe to say that the new Rolls-Royce Dawn is the quietest open top car ever made.
