Drive Reviews Suzuki SX4 Something Different

The Suzuki SX4 worth considering.

Car reviewed Suzuki SX4 2.0 DDIS SZ4. Slightly more unusual than the other SUVs, cheaper than most crossovers and rarer on the road. We all need a bit of 4×4 as the winters get harsher, we all wish we had something with that extra assurance on a winters day.

The Suzuki SX4 is a car that all that it does, it does very well and in an unfussy kind of way. Driving it for a week, it becomes a quite likeable, a well equipped car, good economy and relatively good value at £17400. With Suzuki sales up 30% this year they are worth checkin’ out.

The Suzuki SX4 range includes 1.6 Litre petrol and 2.0 Litre Diesel versions in three trims levels. The car reviewed was the 2.0 diesel with the SZ4 Trim. There is greater economy on the larger engined versions and the 4 wheel drives are more fun to drive and better overall value.

The interior feels well made and utilitarian built for purpose, quite attractive and laid out well. No complicated buttons for the Suzuki intelligent all wheel drive system it is operated by a small switch just between the seats beside the handbrake and is either off or on simple and straight forward to operate. The assurance of the 4×4 system can immediately be felt through the steering after switching on.

The SX4 has a very slightly higher up driving position than a normal car, like a mini SUV. The steering wheel is height adjustable and it is quick and easy to get comfortable in. Adequate for four adults, not as big as its SUV competitors but roomy enough.

Boot space is 270 litres, the rears seat can easily be folded up behind the front seats to increase the useable space or with a 60/40 split.

The interior is attractive with silver splashes around the dash. I liked the seat fabric, cool looking with a metallic silver style fabric that looked pretty hard wearing.

On the road the cars is fun to drive with very good visibility due the the large front screen. It is pretty grippy and with the 135bhp diesel engine and six speed manual gearbox. It returns a pretty good 44.8mpg with emissions of 139 CO2 g/km.

In the Euro Ncap safety ratings the SX4 has a 4-star rating for occupant protection and 3-stars each for pedestrian and child protection.

The Price of the Suzuki SX4 as reviewed £17400.

Safer Driving this winter, check it out.
