Win a Drive with Stirling Moss at Donington Historic Festival

In Events by Jonathan Humphrey

The Donington Historic Festival along with The Telegraph newspaper are offering the chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Enter to win the chance to be driven around Donington Park race circuit in a history-making C-type Jaguar with legendary racing driver Sir Stirling Moss at the wheel.

This unforgettable experience is the prize in a competition running in this Saturday’s Telegraph – on sale, April 7th and on the Telegraph website. Entries close on April 13th. The lucky winner will receive a pair of weekend tickets to the Donington Historic Festival  on May 5/6th and the passenger ride with Stirling Moss on the Sunday of the Festival.

Sir Stirling – who only retired from racing last year, aged 81 – has been a household name for over six decades. The car in which he will drive the Telegraph competition winner at the Festival is also an important part of motorsport and motoring history. It is the world-famous C-type Jaguar, chassis XKC 005, in which he won the 1952 Reims Grand Prix for sports cars. Not just a race win, this was the first-ever race victory in a disc-braked car, cementing the Jaguar marque’s reputation for innovative engineering and helping to make disc brakes the universal technology they are today.

Car and driver will be re-united at the Donington Historic Festival for a series of demonstration laps that will be hugely entertaining for all spectators – and for the lucky Telegraph competition winner in particular.

A ‘must-do’ event in the international historic motorsport calendar, the 2012 Donington Historic Festival will see more than 300 historic racing cars from the 1920s to the 1980s take to the track over the weekend of May 5th and 6th. Races include the Stirling Moss Trophy for pre-’61 sportscars, the thunderous Group C Le Mans cars, Historic Touring Cars and Formula 2 single-seaters, not to mention the hugely popular E-type Challenge and the ‘Mad Jack’ for pre-War cars.

Day tickets cost £18 in advance (£25 on the gate) and weekend tickets £30 in advance (£40 on the gate). Children aged 15 and under are admitted free.  For more information, and to book tickets visit the Donington Website or call the 24-hour ticket hotline on 0844 873 7355.
