New Kia cee’d GT Line, New 1.0-litre Engine, New Transmission
More choice for the New GT Line. The sporty looks of the cee’d GT available on the versatile and more conventional cee’d. Along with the visual upgrades, the GT line will debut the all new three cylinder 1.0-litre T-GDi engines.
The new engine is a downsized, three-cylinder power unit. Kia’s engineers have managed to improve fuel consumption and emissions but still giving the car, keen performance and immediate responses to driver input. The engine produces 120PS and 172 Nm torque, CO2 figures are still being produced and will be lower than the 1.6-litre GDi. This engine is the first in Kia’s range of downsized engines to make its debut in Europe.
The 1.0-litre cee’d GT Line will also be equipped with Kia’s new fuel-saving ISG system, improving emissions and fuel economy, and is available with a six-speed manual transmission.
The cee’d’s 1.6-litre CRDi diesel engine has also been upgraded for the new GT Line variant. Power has been increased from 128 to 133 ps and torque from 265 to 285 Nm. The engine’s full torque is now available from lower engine speeds for more effortless acceleration under all road conditions.
Despite the increase in power and performance, however, CO2 emissions are expected to fall slightly once the homologation process is complete.
The new cee’d GT Line adds a second new technology debut for Kia. An all-new seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). Only available on GT Line models equipped with the 133 ps 1.6-litre CRDi diesel engine. Now capable of handling 300Nm torque. Drivers specifying the new DCT for their cee’d GT Line will get faster gear changing and 0-100kph acceleration, as well as lower running costs. The new DCT will offer lower emissions and better fuel economy compared to the outgoing six-speed automatic gearbox.
The New Kia cee’d GT Line will be available from Kia at towards the end of the year 2015, as usual once again with the company’s unique 7-Year, 100,000 mile warranty.
