Mitsubishi Motors in the UK has recorded another set of outstanding sales figures as its astonishing start to 2013 continues apace.

Figures released today by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) show that Mitsubishi achieved a remarkable 103.7% year-on-year increase in passenger car sales during April.

The stunning performance follows hot-on-the-heels of an equally dazzling March when passenger vehicle sales were up 54.2% on 2012, making Mitsubishi the fastest growing manufacturer.

Much of the success can be attributed to the third generation Outlander SUV and the all-new Mirage supermini which have both enjoyed phenomenal success since being launched earlier this year.

But Mitsubishi’s incredible year extends beyond the passenger car market. Total vehicle sales – taking into account models like the sector leading L200 pick-up – were up 94.9% year-on-year in April building on a 27.7% increase in March.

In fact, the award-laden L200 comfortably retained its position as the bestselling truck in the retail pick-up market sold across Mitsubishi’s 120-strong UK dealer network during April and YTD.

Lance Bradley, Managing Director of Mitsubishi Motors in the UK, said:

“2013 has been an amazing year for Mitsubishi so far and, happily, our performance shows no sign of slowing down.

“There’s no doubt the arrival of new generation Outlander and Mirage has given us a boost and we’ve been thrilled by the way both models have been received – proving popular with long-standing Mitsubishi drivers while helping us attract new customers to the brand.

“But, at the same time it’s pleasing to note that other models in our range, including the ASX urban crossover and L200 pick-up, are performing strongly too.

“We now have our strongest line-up for quite some time and one senses a real buzz of excitement around the Three Diamonds at the moment. The figures certainly seem to back that up.”
