The four retired Suzuki fans are now well on their way into their 28,000-mile fundraising tour around the world in aid of their charity www.heavencanwaitimbusy.com which is fundraising for Save the Children and the Oakhaven Hospice in Lymington, Hampshire.

The expedition, masterminded by retired businessman Les Carvall started from Southampton and headed straight off on the first leg of the journey into Western Europe. They were greeted with a generous donation from staff at Suzuki Europe’s Head Offices near Frankfurt and are now making good progress to reach Suzuki’s manufacturing plant at Esztergom in Hungary after successful visits to Poland and Bratislava this week. The Esztergom facility produces Splash, Swift and SX4 for Europe and will also manufacture the all new SX4 Crossover being launched in the Autumn.

The crew are all in their Seventies and are travelling alone with no frills, luxuries or even a support crew.

The progress through 16 countries and across three continents is being monitored by Yellowbrick Tracker with updates to the website being added four times a day. As with any charity project, all donations would be gratefully accepted and a Just Giving page has been set up here, Progress can also be followed on facebook and twitter.

Jimny’s were chosen for the trip as Les Carvall and the team wanted to prove that the mammoth five month journey could be achieved in low cost 4×4 vehicles which have a very strong record of durability around the world.
